Making Music

Giving my children a love for music is something I dreamed about even before they got here.  It is one of the greatest privileges of being a musician.  Whether they do it for a living or just decide to play for enjoyment, I am excited about being a part of the musical journey with them. I have rehearsal for our weekly services at my house every Thursday night.  Sydney gets very excited to have all these people playing instruments in our house.   My drummer, Steve, brings his daughter Jasmine and the girls find instruments in Syd' s room and join us from time to time.  I love it!   I started Sydney with piano lessons last week and she really enjoys it.  We are learning the black keys and the white keys (something I still get confused about) and short and long tones.  It's a great book that has a CD with it so it is really fun - perfect for a pre-reader - called "My First Piano Adventure" by Nancy and Randall Faber.  Between this and her ballet class, I hope she will learn rhythm...anyway, it's s fun, so much fun...

With the first 2 services of our new church campus successful behind me, I am taking a day off today!  Normally, I don't work on Mondays anyway, but that has been out the window for the last 6 weeks getting ready for Sept 9th.  The older I get, the more I truly crave time to be quiet.  I've always enjoyed being by myself and reading or writing in my journal since I was 12 or 13 - but now, I feel such a sense of urgency to unplug and reflect more than ever...I love this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson - " What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."  For those of us who have chosen to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, this quote has a much deeper meaning.   For me, unplugging from the routine of life is sometimes the only way I can be aware of what God is saying to me and what He is showing me about myself.  I needed today...I hope you find the joy in being unplugged every now and then.

The Day After

Whew!  What a day!  We had 112 people yesterday for our first service at LCC -HHI - we were blown was an incredible morning.  We had to park cars across the street!  Everything really went well from set up to soundcheck (even installing the Aviom!).  Todd and I could not have been more pleased and encouraged by the entire day.  Thank you for your prayers for us and this new journey.  Here we go...

Another big day

So, tomorrow is another big day...just a year ago, Todd and I were in NYC serving with a great team of people celebrating the grand opening of a new church start, The Gallery Church of Manhattan.   I can't believe that was a year ago!  And tomorrow, we launch a new campus of LowCountry Community on Hilton Head Island.  Some ministry friends, Rick and Trish Cobb, are launching a new church campus of Harvest Bible Chapel in Indianapolis tomorrow as well.  I'm excited...I'm a little nervous (we are still waiting for the sign company to call with our sign order ready for pickup!!), but overall I am overwhelmed with just a sense of amazement at how God has guided me to this place in my life.  It has not always been alot of fun, but I will tell you that is has been an adventure! So I say another big day, because I know that God has many more big days in store for me.  But for now...I can't wait till tomorrow!
